FIGHTING FOR New Hampshire

Meet Colin Van Ostern

Colin Van Ostern is running for Congress in New Hampshire’s 2nd District because the only way to fix what’s broken in our country today is to make it work for everyday people and middle class families again. Instead of letting fringe extremists or powerful interests rig the system for themselves, we need to put people first. That starts with protecting reproductive rights – from IVF and birth control to abortion access – no matter your zip code and cutting household costs like housing, higher ed, healthcare and childcare.

Meet Colin

Colin Van Ostern is running for Congress because the only way to fix what’s broken in our country today is to make it work for everyday people and middle class families again.

He knows that instead of letting fringe extremists or powerful interests rig the system for themselves, we need to put people first. That starts with protecting reproductive rights no matter your zip code and cutting household costs like housing, higher education, healthcare and childcare costs while slashing the federal deficit.

These are the fights Colin has taken on his whole life – as a two-term New Hampshire Executive Councilor, a working dad, and a business leader at some of the state’s most innovative private sector companies.

In Concord, Colin successfully fought to twice restore funding at NH Planned Parenthood health centers after it was cut off by opponents, and he was named our state’s “Champion for Choice” by NARAL Pro-Choice NH. He stood up for workers and consumers against powerful interests to help bring an end to the Fairpoint labor strike, he is a leader in the fight for voting rights, and he successfully helped bring the Affordable Care Act to New Hampshire and extend Medicaid to cover over 50,000 NH families, with no state sales or income tax.

In the private sector, Colin has worked as a business manager and executive at some of NH’s most innovative companies – including Stonyfield Yogurt, technology investor Alumni Ventures, and Southern New Hampshire University, where he helped launch a new, nonprofit online college that slashed higher ed costs and enabled thousands of working adults to earn a college degree, most with absolutely zero student debt.

Colin has won this very congressional district before, in a tough year against a tough opponent, when he was the Democratic nominee for Governor in 2016.

Today, Colin has been serving as a board member for NH’s public-private biofabrication cluster and for the state’s nonprofit dedicated to investing in opportunity & equality for women and girls. He received his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and attended college at The George Washington University.

Colin lives with his wife Kristyn in Concord, NH where they are raising their 13 and 10 year old sons and their very good dog Mira.
